Start with the listed troop and specialty tags, then read the skill triggers below. A gathering condition, commander-position condition or status requirement changes when an effect applies. Compare a complete march rather than ranking the hero by one factor.
Choose a different second commander in the planner, keep both upgrade states explicit and inspect the bonus sources. Atlas does not simulate full combat damage or prove that a pairing is best for every account.

Hero background
There are many times when a Viking hero is not a clan leader. Many talented leaders spent a lot of time on tedious clan affairs. They had to give up their training and chose to dedicate their lives to their clans. There are also some Viking warriors who, after becoming heroes, were elected by the clan to be their new leaders. This type of leader is generally not involved in managing the clan's affairs. They exist solely to be the clan's support pillar and deter attacks from other clans or threats.
Lagertha is different. Her clan was the first the Niflungs attacked. Her parents died in the battle, so Lagertha inherited her mother's shield and became the new clan leader. She was the shield ensuring her people's safety. She was inexperienced, but she charged forward in every battle and was the last to retreat.
Lagertha earned her people's love and respect. Her sense of responsibility drives her to fight for everyone. When a dozen clan members were captured, Lagertha broke into the Niflung camp alone under cover of night. The Niflung vanguards repeatedly attacked, but Lagertha blocked everything with her round shield. The towering Niflungs fell to Lagertha's sword.
Lagertha returned with the captured clan members, bathed in blood like a goddess of war.
Lagertha won the trust of her clan through many similar deeds. Lagertha's clan pledged loyalty and did not hesitate to give their lives to her.
Lagertha left after ensuring the clan's survival. Vikings need heroes to change their destiny, and her people need rest to recuperate. Lagertha is unwilling to let the clan be consumed in endless battle, but she is willing to sacrifice herself if necessary to make the land great again.
