VIKING RISE · Beginner guide

Your first city and farm

Start with a working city, not a shopping list of expensive upgrades. This guide explains how to read your next requirement, keep useful work moving and make a small plan you can check against your own account.

Step 1

Finish the current chapter step, then inspect the next requirement

The tutorial and chapter panel explain the immediate task on your account. Follow that prompt, then open the destination building or feature and read what is actually required. A catalogue entry is not proof that the feature is unlocked for you. If a chapter asks for a building upgrade, check that specific target level rather than upgrading every building evenly.

Step 2

Use the Chief’s Hall as a dependency checklist

The Chief’s Hall governs city development, but its next upgrade can depend on other buildings. For example, the recorded Level 5 step requires Chief’s Hall Level 4, Walls Level 4 and Infirmary Level 4, with a base cost of 27,600 Food and 27,600 Lumber. Those are the costs of that step, not the full cost of raising every prerequisite. Open the building reference and follow each prerequisite link before committing resources.

Step 3

Separate the jobs your buildings do

The Academy researches technology. Infantry, Pikemen, Archer and Porter Barracks train their respective troop types. The Infirmary treats wounded troops, while the Warehouse protects city resources from raids. The Tribe Hall supports assists from tribe members. These are different jobs: having one queue occupied does not imply another task is complete, and not every building is available at the beginning.

Step 4

Choose the resource goal before opening packs or spending speedups

Check the exact requirement and the resources you already hold. The reference shows base costs; it cannot see your inventory, discounts, timers or chapter conditions. Decide what you want to complete next and identify the shortage first. A long timer is not, by itself, a reason to spend a premium item. Confirm what a pack or speedup will do in the current game before using it.

Step 5

Build a march for the job, not just the strongest-looking portrait

A march can use two heroes. For gathering, inspect the heroes’ gathering conditions and the resource you intend to collect. Eugen and Sveinn are both listed with Porter and Gathering specialties; their level-one Lumber & Gold Surge descriptions favour lumber and gold differently. The worked example below is a learning configuration, not a claim that you own these heroes, have unlocked both positions or have found the best possible pairing.

Step 6

Keep early research and training connected to your plan

Read the current technology’s bonus, prerequisite and cost before choosing it. Likewise, check the troop type and tier in a training batch rather than assuming every available batch serves the same purpose. Confirm that the queue actually started and note when it finishes. Priorities depend on whether you are developing the city, gathering or preparing for a particular fight; this guide does not prescribe one universal spending order.

Step 7

Use your tribe and your own game state as the final check

The Tribe Hall’s assist function can be useful when your account and tribe support it. For shared objectives, ask teammates to confirm current rules, requirements and timing.
